Data have been collected within the framework of national and international research projects, aiming at assessing the environmental state of various sea regions (defining the extent to which they have been affected by anthropogenic activities, such as domestic wastes, industrial effluent, agricultural activities, etc.) and at assisting the making of the necessary decisions for the protection of the marine environment. The collection of data have been made in various coastal areas and periods, as follows: Saronikos Gulf (1973-75), Thermaikos Gulf (1973-76,1983-85), Pagassitikos Gulf (1973-76, 1983), Aegean Sea (1980), Patraikos Gulf (1980-81), South Euvoikos Gulf (1981-82), Messolonghi Lagoon (1983-84), North Euvoikos Gulf (1981-82), Milos Island (1988-89), Kerkyra Island (1991-93), Kavala Bay (1983), Navarino Bay (1983), Lesvos Island (1983-85), Elefsis Bay (1985), Amvrakikos Gulf (1988-89), Lakonikos Gulf (1992).
