Data have been collected within the framework of the national program for the water quality of the Koumoundouros Lake, the Elefsis Bay and the groundwater in the area between the Ano Liosia Landfill and the Elefsis Gulf. More specifically, physical, and bio-geo-chemical parameters in water column and sediment have been used in order to estimate the ecological status of Koumoundouros Lake, Elefsis Bay and the local aquifer and correlate these results with the leachate originating from the Ano Liosia Landfill and other pollution sources around the lake. Furthermore, a hydrological evaluation of the leachate diffusion in the area has been applied to show the impact of landfill leachates on groundwater, Koumoundouros lake and the Elefsis Bay. The data set comprises measurements made in a dense grid of stations covering Koumoundouros Lake and the adjacent marine environment of Elefsis Bay and the ground waters between the Landfill and the lake.
