Description
Summary

Data were collected over a grid of 150 stations during May 1997, July 1997, February 1998 and September 1998, within the framework of the EU funded project MetroMed. MetroMed is a multi disciplinary oceanographic project collecting physical, chemical, geological and biological information in the marine area of the NW Aegean Sea and the Gulf of Lions (France). Metro-Med studies the marine area as an integrated system with the surrounding land, since terrestrial input in fresh water, sediments, nutrients, pollutants (heavy metals, pesticides, sewerage, etc.) is of major importance. Major aim of MetroMed is to study the origin and fate of river-borne particles, their properties and distribution in the marine environment.
