| Summary | During the POSEIDON project in situ wave and wind data were collected by means of oceanographic buoys. The locations of the measurement are scattered in the Aegean and the Ionian Sea and usually the recording intervals are of the order of 3 hours (i.e. 8 measurements per day). The wave buoys are equipped with accelerometers (of the MRU-4 type - SeaTex) and anemometers (Lambrecht type) mounted at a 3 m height above the sea-surface. The duration of measurements is 17 minutes (for the wave) and 10 min (for the wind). All the spectral analysis for the wave measurements is made in-situ and the spectral parameters are transmitted to the Operational Centre. The whole procedure is fully automated. |
