Description
Summary

The project covers theoretical and practical aspects. Theoretical, for the students education and practical for the estimation of the present condition and the possible evolution of north and south Euboikos Gulf. Emphasis has been given to paleogeography and to the evolution of the gulf during the past geological periods up to today. The study takes place seasonally. From 1980 to 1992 almost all the regions of Euboikos Gulf have been covered by sampling 400 sites. At every site, water samples and bottom sediments have been taken to determine the structure of sea water column and the bottom sediment type. Sea level recorders at 10 sites cover the central part of Euboikos Gulf, near Euripus Channel.
