Description
Summary

The aim of the scientists of the Laboratory of Zoology of the University of Patras is to study the zooplankton ecology primarily of the coastal waters of the broad area of Patras and the other neritic waters in Greece. There is an effort to monitor the ecosystem of Patraikos Gulf as far as the zooplankton community is concerned. The subjects of this research are: species composition and distribution, seasonal cycles, vertical migration, inter and intra specific relationships and the influence of the hydrological conditions on the zooplankton. The groups of special interest are copepods and chaetoguaths. Open waters of Greece are also studied in collaboration with the National Centre for Marine Research.
