The data set is used for the above mentioned project, the objective of which is to monitor the quality of the sea water environment using satellite images of Landsat, MOS and AVHRR. The expected result is the quick determination of sea water areas with environmental problems. The marine environment is described by estimating parameters which constitute indices of its quality assessment (chlorophyll-a concentration, TSS concentration, water transparency) and by estimating parameters of water circulation (temperature). The work uses satellite images together with in-situ data collected simultaneously with satellite passes from the study area, to develop the appropriate geophysical algorithms for the determination of the water quality parameters and the temperature using only satellite data. Samplings are performed on the dates of satellite passes. Twenty-one sites were sampled for 30 August 1992 sampling and 10 sites for the rest of the samplings. Samples are collected from 1m depth. Secchi depth and temperature are measured using a secchi disk and an inverted thermometer. Chlorophyll-a concentration is measured with a spectrophotometer, TSS concentration is measured with the gravity method, water transparency is measured with a turbidity meter. Sampling continued for one year.
