Standard sections from the Greenland Sea, Greenland Strait, NE of Iceland, and east of Iceland to 9 degrees west.
Raw current meter output parameters; Salinity of the water column; Horizontal velocity of the water column (currents); Temperature of the water column
Current profilers; CTD; discrete water samplers; current meters
The aim of the VEINS project was to measure and to model the variability of fluxes between the Arctic Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean with a view on implementing a longer term system of critical measurements needed to understand the high-latitude oceans steering role in decadal climate variability. The Icelandic research focused on hydrographic sections around Icelandic taken on 14 cruises between 1997 and 1999. In addition moored current meters and ADCPs were deployed and recovered. Ten floats were also deployed.
