Description
Summary

This long-term project was designed to address issues raised by the previous ICES Overflow Expeditions. The project did not involve any joint actions in terms of synoptic coverage, the project being designed as a concerted action by its participants, especially in the area surrounding the Faroe Islands. The Nansen project acquired 1305 station observations, of which 372 included chemical measurements. 6 countries (Denmark, Germany, Iceland, Netherlands, Norway, and the UK) contributed to the project. Full details of shipborne observations, including information about the data held in this data set and elsewhere, is contained in the PC-based ICES ROSCOP database. The ROSCOP database can also be interrogated on-line via a web-interface.
