Description
Summary

SKAGEX was conducted in 4 phases, the initial in May-June 1990 being the most extensive in terms of resources. It was designed to determine fluxes through the Skagerrak, and addressed fundamental physical chemical and biological issues in order to enhance scientific understanding of this area which is particularly sensitive to happenings elsewhere in the North Sea. The full data set extends to some 2500 oceanographic stations most of which were worked along pre-planned sections. 6 countries took part, namely Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Germany, Poland, USSR, with a total of 17 research ships. Full details of shipborne observations, including information about the data held in this data set and elsewhere, is contained in the PC-based ICES ROSCOP database. The ROSCOP database can also be interrogated on-line via a web-interface.
