Description
Summary

Marine monitoring in the Gulf of Riga has been carried out from 1973 to 2007, with background cruise meteorological and other supporting information: coordinates, depth, wind speed and direction, wave high and type, visibility, air temperature, atmospheric pressure, cloudiness, type of clouds, light attenuation/transparency (Secchi disc) and colour. Observations were done using research vessels 'Zvezda Baltiki', 'Vejas', 'Geofizikis' up to 1994, 'Antonija' from 1995- 2005, since 2005 ships of Latvian Naval Forces. Database covers Gulf of Riga and Latvia's coastal part of Baltic Sea. Data are starting from 1973 and from once a year per station till 20 times a year per station. Since 2005 observation rate was reduced to 7 times a year for intensive stations and 4 times a year for seasonal stations.
