Pelagic trawl nets; optical microscopes; balances and scales

The Latvian Fish Resources Agency has cod stomach data collected since 1963 to the present 2005. Sampling was carried out monthly: January, March, April, June, September, November/December. The row stomach field data was created to sample / trawl station which represent data of sampling, depth and location of each trawling (square ''10/10''). The sampling covered depths between 30 and about 120 m. Mostly bottom trawls, but in 1980s a pelagic trawls also was incorporated. The sampling was carried out mainly in Ventspils, Liepaja, Klaipeda, Gdansk and Gotland area (ICES sub-divisions 28 and 26). Each stomach was inspected individually in laboratory. The prey in a stomach was identified to the lowest possible taxonomic level, counted and weighted. Over 50 000 of cod stomach content are reported in the database. The database computerizations are not completed.
