Description
Summary

This time series is designed to explore potential effects of the various evolutionary forces (mutation, genetic drift, gene flow and selection) on the stability of population allele frequencies are explored in a very detailed time series of cod. Individual cod biological and genetic information are recorded from bi-annual catches (common sample size of N=300) from fixed periods (spawning season and autumn) with fixed gir and at fixed locations in the Trondheimsfjord. Routine data collecting (for database) started in 1973. Some genetic information is available back to 1965. Genotyping for haemoglobins (HbI), six allozyme loci (LDH-3, IDH-1, MDH-3, PGM-1, PGI-1, PGI-2) and one cDNA marker (SypI) are ajour. Database is under work, and additional DNA markers are being added to the loxus repertory. Tissue samples dating from back to 1985 are stored at ultralow temperatures (-80ºC) and in ethanol at TBS.
