Description | |
Summary | A population of the invasive serpulid polychaete, Ficopomatus enigmaticus (Fauvel), has been monitored since May 1982. Weekly larval settlements have been determined; tube accumulation (wet weight) has been determined using both seasonal and long term exposure panels; the settlement season and settlement densities have been determined in relation to both temperature and salinity. Weekly maximum/minimum temperature records are available for both surface water and for bottom water at 0.75-1.0m. Salinity data have also been collected once weekly both for surface water and that at 0.75-1.0m depth. The fauna associated with the tube aggregates of F. enigmaticus have been determined with that of the adjacent muddy bottom at several sites within the pond complex in 1982/83, 1987/88, 1988/89 and 1990/91. |
