Description
Summary

The measurements were part of a Ph.D thesis entitled 'Evolution of the TS structure under ice cover in shallow Baltic Bay'. The 152 samples of ice were taken from 3 layers 0-10 cm, 10-20 cm, 20-30 cm. The ice salinity was measured using a conductivity salinometer. The salinity was measured after the ice had been melted. Ice density and porosity were calculated from the Schwerdtfeger formula by determining ice density using hydrostatic balance by weighing ice in air and hexane. The data set contains average, minimum, maximum and standard deviation values for salinity (for each layer), density and porosity.
