Description
Summary

The objective of the CMP-HELCOM project is to observe the changes occurring in the coastal zone of the Baltic Sea resulting from human activity. The project is still in its initial stage and is constantly modified. Monitoring of selected biological parameters in the Polish coastal zone of the Baltic Sea has been carried out in DAE IEP since 1994. The 3-times a year control includes measurements of the following parameters: chlorophyll-a, phytoplankton and zooplankton at 11 sampling stations. Methods of sampling and analyses correspond to the HELCOM Guidelines for Baltic Monitoring Programme. The data base contains chlorophyll-a concentrations, abundances and biomasses of the organisms for each sampling recalculated for 1 m**3. It includes data of some 100 samplings with the specified name of the station, date and depth of the sampling or hauling. The data are used for elaboration of periodic assessments of the state of the Baltic Sea environment and for prognosis of the future changes in the biocenosis of the Southern Baltic.
