Description
Summary

The research carried out in 1979-80 constituted a supplement to the first stage of the Baltic Monitoring Programme, Helsinki Commission Programme (BMP-HELCOM). The objective was to assess the degree of the water contamination and to indicate the biocenotic changes as a result of the contamination in the various parts of the Polish part of the Baltic Sea. The control was performed four times a year at 61 sampling stations located in the open sea area, in the coastal zone and lagoons. Pelagic parameters were controlled in the surface water layer as well as in the deep water layers. Primary production and chlorophyll-a samples were taken exclusively in the open sea area. The results of the trace metals determination and chlorinated and oil-originated hydrocarbons were also incomplete. The methods of sampling and laboratory analyses used followed the BMP-HELCOM guidelines in most cases. The data set in DAE IEP consists mainly of the rough data and processed results (mean values, diagrams etc.) expressed in standard units and stored in typescript tabular and graphic form. The complexity of the research and the vast area of investigation make the data unique.
