Description | |
Summary | Data set comprise of results of hydroacoustic surveys in specific sections of the Proper Baltic during October to cover the stocks of Baltic herring and sprat. These surveys provided necessary background for the relevant ICES assessment working group with fishery-independent data on the state of the herring and sprat stocks in the central Baltic. They include also all acoustic survey data from previous years in an international database (BALTDAT) based on similar one used for the North Sea and kept in DIFRES-Hirtshals, Denmark. It made historical survey data accessible for studies on development of the Baltic Sea herring and sprat stocks over a number of years, their interactions with other fish stocks in the Baltic Sea, and the effects of environmental changes on the stocks. The following countries participated in the project: Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Russia, Latvia, Poland, Germany and Denmark. |
