Description
Summary

This dataset is generated from the M5 moored buoy, one of the Irish Marine Weather Buoy Network locations. Hourly information is transmitted via the Meteosat system to a base station in Germany and then onto the GTS (Global Telecommunications System) where it is downloaded for use by the UK Met Office, Met Eireann and is uploaded onto the Marine Institute website. Parameters measured include Air Temperature, Atmospheric Pressure at Altitude, Gust Wind Speed, In-situ Relative Humidity, Wind Direction, Wind Speed, Wave Height (Weather Buoy), Wave Period (Weather Buoy) and Sea Temperature (Weather Buoy). Observations for the last 24 hours of recordings can be viewed from the Marine Institute Data Buoy page.
