Description
Summary

The aim of the researches is to study the bacterioplankton state, interannual changes in the bacterial concentrations and biomass in the Southeastern Baltic Sea. Data of bacterioplankton in the Southeastern Baltic Sea were obtained during the complex seasonal ecological surveys on r/v 'Oceanograph' and 'Vejas'. Water samples in the Southeastern Baltic are taken from surface and near-bottom layers. ZoBell modified sampler is used for this purpose. The investigations consist of determination of total bacterial number and biomass, concentration of heterotrophic, oil-oxidizing and coliform bacteria. From 1985 to 1993 the total abundance of microorganisms was determined by the method of Razumov A.S. and since 1993 by using the accepted international HELCOM methods. The data are fully quality controlled. Systematic certification of laboratories, participation in an international intercalibrations, internal control, introduced managing system for researches' quality, use of high quality reagents determine quality of data. All data is stored in archive (written form) and is saved on hard disk.
