Description
Summary

The aim of the research is to evaluate currents, their directions and discharge of the Klaipeda Strait. This measurement is used to evaluate amount of pollutants from continent. Klaipeda Strait is a part of Curonian Lagoon and connects it with the Baltic Sea. Klaipeda Strait belongs to a heavily modified water body, there is located harbour of Klaipeda. Measurement of discharge is carried out in 4-7 months in a year (mostly without winter season) by the expedition cutter 'Gintaras'. Currents are measured by marine grinder in sections in two sites of the Klaipeda Strait. The data are fully quality controlled. Systematic certification of laboratories, participation in international intercalibrations, internal control, introduced managing system for research' quality determine quality of data. All data is stored in archive (written form).
