Distribution patterns of larval stages of decapod crustaceans were studied along the coast of Sines and the Mira estuary, mainly focused on seasonal trends, distribution over salinity gradients, and dynamics of dispersal and recruitment in relation to major environmental cycles, as tidal, diel and semi lunar. Larval cultures were developed in order to describe the larval stages of un-described species, and experiments were performed to study survival and duration of stages in relation to environmental parameters.
