Description
Summary

Theoretical considerations and experimental devices have been developed in order to achieve as much consistency as possible between the various conventions for the evaluation of pH in order to give full meaning to the quantity and to those activities and concentrations of various species, formation constants and speciation that pH allows for. A universal pH scale is sought for recommendation in order to comprise hierarchization from very dilute electrolyte solutions to highly concentrated ones.
