Description
Summary

The purpose of the project 'Fishery Potential' of North Eastern Atlantic Squid Stocks' (no. MA 1.146) was to improve understanding of the basic life cycle biology of loliginid squid in the North Atlantic area, thereby providing a basis for multinational management of these increasingly valuable resources. The study involves investigations on stock identity and geographic variation using detailed morphometric measurements, studies of population and reproductive ecology, and an evaluation of squid fishing, including comparative trials of gear and a preliminary economic analysis.
