| Summary | Under the Permanent Breakwater's Monitoring Project concerning the Portuguese coast, NPP and Direccao Geral do Portos have collected and published wave data obtained between 1965 and 1986 at 28 locations along the Portuguese continental coast, and at one location offshore of Ilha Terceira, Azores. This collection is of extreme importance since previous reports related to wave data (published by Instituto Hidrografico - IH) are only concerned with data obtained after 1981. The data compiled by NPP, which since 1981 have been collected and analyzed by IH, originated a data base containing all the storms which have occurred since 1965 along the Portuguese coast. Hence, this data base covers approximately 30 years of wave data and NPP is responsible for its updating. |
