Description
Summary

The pelagic fishery of tunas and horse mackerel and the demersal fishery are the two main groups in the Azorean fisheries. The landings of demersal fishery have been increasing in the last years, reaching almost 4 thousand metric tonnes. This increase is due to the effort made in the development and modernization of the fleet. The landings of pelagic fish vary from year to year, related to the oceanographic conditions. The landings of tunas reach, in some years, 10 thousand tonnes.
