| Summary | Biological database of the blue jack mackerel and chub mackerel (Trachurus picturatus and Scomber japonicus) of the Azores. The mackerels represented 84.5 per cent of the Azorean small pelagic fishes landings (excluding tunas). Biometric data of 2530 specimens were used to obtain the following weight-length relationship: Wt = 0.00819 times length to the power of 3.11, and the parameters of the von Bertalanffy growth equation: Loo = 52.9 cm, k = 0.20 per year, t0 = -0.23 year. Age has been determined by otolith rings count. |
