| Summary | The coastal lagoon of 'Santo-Cristo' in S. Jorge island, is a small singular lagoon. In the Azores there are only two lagoons of this type (sea- water). Their inaccessibility by land and sea, are the main factors that make their study difficult. Nevertheless, the lagoon has a high bivalve production which is artisanally exploited. The chemical and physical data of the water of the lagoon are recorded during short and irregular intervals. |
