Description
Summary

Data on biomass, reproduction, growth (apical length) and cover of Gelidium sesquipedale populations have been collected in seven main intralittoral beds of harvest areas. Observations were mainly carried out in summer and autumn, before and after the harvest, since 1983, with some gaps. Large Gelidium beds were mapped after determination of global limits of total and stratified areas with different mean biomasses and covers, using underwater surveys and transects. Seasonal estimations of total biomass (standing stocks) are made in each bed. Analyses of the harvest effort contribute to management recommendations and the establishment of TACs.
