The project comprised an assessment of the trophic state of the estuary, including the selection of suitable areas for the development of aquaculture. Detection of stress situations in the plankton communities related to industrial development and mining exploitation were also investigated. Plankton production of the existing fish cultures was assessed in order to adopt exploitation methods harmless to the estuary ecosystem.
