Description
Summary

The project focuses on the development of new management strategies with a sound scientific basis for the nutrient emissions (nitrogen and phosphorus) in the large and, in many respects, very inhomogeneous catchments of the Danube River. It aims at improving knowledge on the effect of measures for reduction of nutrient emissions in the Danube Basin and the effect of this pollution reduction on water quality and especially on the ecological status of the Western Black Sea coastal area. Eight cruises were carried out in the river plume/mixing zone Danube-Black Sea in three years. The water samples were collected from 10 stations at 3 W-E sections in the area mentioned before and 8 cruises on the Romanian shelf on three sections, Sulina, Constanta and Mangalia. The NIMRD's laboratories which make physical - chemical analysis of the water samples have the accreditation ISO EN 17025 / EC starting with 2001. The data sets are in the text format and storage on the computer. A data base specify for DANUBS project will be developed by the coordinator of the project.
