The Phytoplankton dataset is used for the Project LIFE00NAT/RO7194 Conservation of the dolphins in the Romanian Black Sea Coast. To identify locations / sites that offer most suitable living condition for dolphin, in order to further designate them as marine protected areas for dolphins ( the possibility of enforcing the already declared marine reserve of Vama Veche - 2 May will be considered. During the summer cruises the phytoplankton samples were collected from 24 sampling sites covering the Romanian Black Sea coast (from Sulina to Vama Veche); The samples have been analysed with inverted microscope identifying microalgae species and phytoplankton quantitative analysis (phytoplankton abundance and biomass).
