Summary

The research was carried out under the following projects: National Programme for research and Development - Orizont 2000 -Monitoring the coastal and marine water quality, evolution trends and biological effects on marine organisms -Development of an integrated monitoring system of morphological processes, biodiversity and state of the natural resources from RBDD marine area -Control of the organic and inorganic pollution of the littoral waters and the level of radioactivity; monitoring the effects on the marine organism - Implementation of the Directive 79/923 on Shellfish Waters in compliance with the Black Sea Strategic Action Plan Study regarding the influence of the seasonal balneo turistical activities on the marine water quality Monitoring of the marine environmental quality indicators for Romanian coastal and marine waters Integrated monitoring programme for physical, chemical and biological, parameters for Romanian coastal and marine waters Evaluation of the ecological effects induced by the discharge of the fresh and sewage waters into marine shallow waters. Regional Monitoring Programme for the Black Sea within the frame of the Convention for Protection the Black Sea Against pollution (2000-2002) The microbiological research was included as objectives of the Romanian National Monitoring Programme of Black Sea coastal water quality and was focused on:- the quantitative and qualitative estimation of the faecal bacteria (Total coliforms, faecal coliforms, Faecal streptococci) in seawater from coastal area ;- estimating the bacterial seawater quality (TC, FC, SF) in monitoring system and elaboration of new standard for seawater quality according with European Commission;- appreciation of faecal bacteria levels in coastal area near the mainly points of wastewater discharges ;
