Description
Summary

The aim of RELANSIN was to study the influence of biotic parameters to micro algal blooms in Romanian Coastal zone. One of the objectives of this project was assessment of the effects produced by algae blooms on the quality of waters, beaches, and the state of coastal ecosystem. Within the frame of this objective was investigated the content of biochemical compounds from water and sediments in direct connection with the intense algae blooms caused by the eutrophication of the seawater in Romanian Black Sea sector. The basic data for the biochemical content dynamics come from 180 water samples, gathered twice a week from the permanent NIMRD observation station near Constanta shore. Additional data concerning biochemical compounds (glucides and lipids) were obtained from processing of 218 water samples and 60 sediment samples collected during 8 seasonal cruises in the NIMRD station network, covering the Romanian continental shelf until the distance of 30 miles from the coast. Quantitative determination of biochemical compounds from samples of water and sediment was carried out on the following methods: spectrophotometrical method with L - tryptophan (A.I. Agatova, N.M. Andreeva, 1980) for glucides; spectrophotometrical method with valine (A.I. Agatova, N.M. Andreeva, 1980) for lipids.
