Description
Summary

The aim of the COASTAL SEDIMENTS MONITORING is necessary in the researches/evaluations/analyses of the littoral geological environment, and also in the design, maintenance, and operation of beach nourishment, coastal channel dredging, harbour design, and other coastal engineering coastal projects. For a better utilization of the sand, as generated by natural populations of molluscs and existing sedimentary deposits, a Master Plan for surveillance and management of the beach natural resources will be done in this regard. The data are stored, together with transversal sections information, as time series at each site with seasonal or annual values. The data are not fully quality controlled. The data set comprises over 148 annually values of the coastal sediments distributions and characteristics along 46 coastal profiles / correspondent sections.
