Description
Summary

The project supports the objectives of International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River and Commission for the Protection of the Black Sea against pollution meaning the improvement of monitoring system and the data base completion link to the transboundary impact analysis. The project's aim is to assess the hazardous substances level (heavy metals, organochlorinated pesticides and PAH's) in the abiotic elements from the Danube Delta nearshore area and their interaction with the biotic component, mainly with economically significance species. The achievement of this project will be carrying out towards determination of heavy metals, organochlorinated pesticides and PAH's content/bioaccumulation in the nonbiotic/biotic elements/organisms from different trophic levels, close to the river mouth and in the immediate coastal area, studying the qualitative and quantitative structures of benthic organisms and ihtiofauna in the Danube and Black Sea impact area, together with the study of the heavy metals and persistent organics pollutants interaction with the biotic component through pollution biochemical indicators analysis.
