Description
Summary

The project's aim is to assess and to appoint the marine environment pollution level (water, sediments and organisms), both inside the mainly Romanian maritime ports, (Constanta, Mangalia, Midia) where a lot of complex activities are carrying on and in immediate marine areas. The general objective is determination of the negative effects from port basins due to the ports activity and social-economic activities of Constanta, Mangalia and Midia-Navodari cities, including the determination of the physical and chemical parameters of the marine environment (in water, sediments and organisms) in the harbours and in the vicinity areas, determination of the benthos and plankton species from the Constanta, Mangalia and Midia harbors and point out the negative effects of ports activity for the organisms evolution and dynamic in these areas, and determination of the medium term evolution tendency in time and space for biotic components from the studied areas. The project paths will encompass the identification of the control solutions for the Constanta, Mangalia and Midia ports activity negative effects towards the Constanta, Mangalia and Midia harbours and closest areas marine environment and the assessment of the environmental strategic impact, social and economical impacts suggested for the ports next development. The data are stored, together with benchmark information, as time series at each site. The data are fully quality controlled. The data are compared with historical data sets, with the other physical, chemical and biological parameters that were monitored and with data from neighbouring sites.
