Description
Summary

The data set comprises geophysical data collected on five cruises (RRS Shackleton 5/76, 4/77 and 3/79, RRS Challenger 6/80 and 1/84) to the continental margin to the west of the British Isles. Altogether, these cruises collected over 6000km of navigation, bathymetry, magnetics and gravity data. The cruises formed part of a programme of research to investigate the geological structure and history of the continental margin. The October 1976 cruise concentrated on the Porcupine Abyssal Plain, Shackleton 4/77 on the Goban Spur and the continental margin to the south west of the British Isles, Shackleton 3/79 from the west of the Goban Spur northwards to the mouth of the Rockall Trough, Challenger 6/80 between Rockall and Porcupine Bank and Challenger 1/84 on the southern Rockall Trough.
