Description
Summary

This data set was collected on RRS Challenger cruise 76/90 and comprises an investigation into the distribution and chemical speciation of trace metals in the North Atlantic, supported by NERC research grants. Continuous measurements were collected of fluorescence and transmittance from the ship's non-toxic supply along the entire cruise track. Nineteen CTD casts were taken at 13 stations, mostly taking measurements through the entire water column. A Rosette sampler with Go-Flo bottles was used, in addition to the CTD, and samples of the water column were collected at each of the 13 stations. These were filtered and analyzed in the laboratory. Trace metals analyzed for were CU, Ni, Cr, Pt, Ti, Al, Fe and V. Organic complexion of Cu and Ni were determined and speciation of Cr, Al and Ti measured. Nutrients (nitrite, silicate and ammonia) were measured spectrophotometrically.
