Description
Summary

The different stations for the sampling of sediments were laid out to cover the area of the Ria of Pontevedra opposite the Cellulose Company (ENCE) and the Chloride-Ash Company (ELNOSA) and both the old spilling of the companies as well as the general spilling at the moment of collecting the samples were taken into account. Samples were thus obtained of the area known as Playa Placeres. Samples were also taken at other points of the Ria of Pontevedra, especially at those points which contain molluscs breeding areas, and at diverse points of the Rias of Arosa and Vigo, with the purpose of using this last samples as reference, given the fact they were taken in waters which are presumably non-polluted with mercury. The frequency of the sampling was twice yearly coinciding with spring waters.
