Summary

In the course of September 1979, the R/V 'Cornide de Saavedra' carried out 69 hydrographic stations in the area of the Canaries. Temperature and salinity data were taken from the surface down to standard depths. Limitation of reliability: at some of the deep water stations, data obtained at more than 1,500m was wrong. Spatial and temporal resolution: stations were separated by about 10 miles E-W, and 20 miles N-S. An upwelling area was located off the West coast of Fuerteventura.
