Description
Summary

Since 1971 the Oceanographic Institute of the Canary Islands has carried out a study on hydrography and chemistry of nutrients at a fixed station situated 5 miles to the East of Santa Cruz de Tenerife at a depth of 1,200 metres. The station could not be occupied for several periods; thus the absence of data. During the 1970 - 90 period, a total of 5 cycles has been studied. Since 1979 new studies were carried out at another fixed station, similar to the first, and situated to the SW of Tenerife. As a contrast to the two previous ones, a primarily coastal station was started in 1975 in the Bay of Antequera, with a depth of only 15 metres.
