Description
Summary

Within the CINECA program, the Oceanographic Centre of the Canary Islands of the Spanish Institute of Oceanography carried out 4 expeditions on board the O/V 'Cornide de Saavedra', with the purpose of studying the physical, chemical and biological conditions of the African upwelling within the current of the Canary Islands. These four expeditions were 'Norcanarias' in August 1972, CINECA I in February 1973, CINECA II in August 1973 and 'Canarias I' in September 1979. In general, the results show the contrast between coastal waters which are subject to intense upwelling, and oceanic waters which are of a more oligotrophic nature.
