Data were obtained in the course of a year, with monthly samples taken in the intertidal area of the Ria de Arosa in Carril, Pontevedra. 3 clear samples and 1 dark (from the upper cm. of the sediment) for primary production. Means of production at low and high tide. Sample-taking at midday, coinciding with low tide. Processing of samples in accordance with Van Raalte (1974). Separation of epipelic (free forms) from episammic (forms adhered to sand grains) production. Stimulation of plankton production in the column of water and comparison with production in sediment. 5 samples of the superficial layer for pigment analysis (Lorenzen 1967 and Whitney and Darley 1979 techniques). 3 replicates for organic matter (dry weight free of ashes) and CN (Perkin Elmer analyzer). Monthly data on solar radiation provided by the meteorological centre near to the location.
