Description | |
Summary | The project objective is to follow long-term trends in phytoplankton species composition, abundance and biovolume in the Gulf of Bothnia. Special attention is paid to potentially toxic taxa. The phytoplankton have been monitored at three sampling sites: a coastal station in the northern Bothnian Sea, an offshore station in the Bothnian Bay and an offshore station in the Bothnian Sea. The project began in 1991 and about 20 samples were collected per station each year. Data from simultaneous sampling for water physics/chemistry are stored at the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute, SMHI. |
