Description
Summary

Monthly values of NMAT anomaly from 1856 to date. Anomalies are wrt 1961 to 1990 normals. 5 x 5 grid. Monthly normals for 1961 to 1990 5 x 5 grid. Data are from in-situ observations only. The coverage improves after 1940. The data are regularly updated and improved, when additional historical data are discovered and added to the data banks.Values have been corrected using the corrections developed to account for changing measurement heights in Rayner et al (2002). The HadMAT1 data set has been shown to be an improvement upon (and has superseded) the MOHMAT data set.
