Description
Summary

CHIRP data set is a group of high resolution sub bottom profiles, acquired to allow for characterizing the sites where to perform corings and HF measurements. In addition, some profiles were acquired for investigating the anoxic brine lakes in the NE flank of the Mediterranean Ridge and the Victor Hensen sea-hill in the Ionian Abyssal Plain. CHIRP data, recorded in digital form on magneto-optical device, can be processed using standard reflection seismics packages. Claimed performance parameters are: max theoretical vertical resolution: 10 cm; max penetration in sediments: 100 m.
