Description
Summary

Meteorological observations and measurements at Trieste started at the end of 1700. The number of parameters involved generally increased with time; one or three measurements per day are typical of the old times; hourly data are available during the present century; 10 min and 1 min time steps were adopted from 1989 and 1991 respectively. The purpose of the IGG Climatology Laboratory is the collection, filing and validation of the historical data and the monitoring of the meteoclimatic parameters at the present time by means of modern instruments and methods. Instruments and sensors are carefully calibrated and checked. The Trieste dataset is important for climatic studies also concerning the oceanography of the northern Adriatic sea.
