During the period from 1969 to 1982, the Osservatorio Geofisico Sperimentale carried out an intensive study of the Mediterranean Sea, collecting a very large amount of seismic reflection data. The data were collected during 10 seismic surveys performed with the R/V L.F. Marsili of C.N.R. and fitted by OGS with the required seismic equipment. In consideration of the long period of field data activity and the rapid development of seismic data acquisition systems available on the international market, the data have been collected with different instruments. The sampling data acquisition parameters have been improved nearly every year, and can be summarized as follows: Coverage = 600 - 1200 - 2400 % Sample Rate = 4 ms Shot Interval = 50 - 100 m Streamer Length = 2400 m Streamer Depth = 12 - 15 m Group Interval = 50 - 100 m Number of Groups = 24 - 48 Record Length = 8 - 10 sec Energy Source: - Total Charge = 100 - 300 gr - Depth = 14 m
