| Summary | Seven charts which show the magnetic variation (declination, D) for the current quinquennium and the annual rates of change in variation. Of these, one is a world chart on a scale of 1:44 million, five cover the main ocean areas on a scale of 1:20 million, and the sixth covers the north and south polar areas also at 1:20 million. The polar sheet is on the Polar Stereographic projection, and all the others are on the Mercator Projection. There are six further world sheets, all on the Mercator projection, at a scale of 1:45 million, showing the inclination or dip (I).The most widely used for the purposes of sea and air navigation are those showing magnetic variation (declination, D). |
